Four Important Google Updates

1. Increased Emphasis on E-A-T for YMYL Pages

The first upgrade that brands and SEO experts must consider, might be Google's refined focus on Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-A-T), especially for Your Money, Your Life (YMYL) pages.
 
YMYL content, which impacts users' health, financial stability, or safety, is held to higher standards.
 
For eCommerce businesses, this means that content related to health products, supplements, financial tools, or anything that can significantly impact users must be meticulously crafted with expert opinions and clear, trustworthy information.
 
A health supplement store, for example, could enhance its product descriptions and blog content by including certifications, expert reviews, and clinical trial data to boost its E-A-T score.
 
On the other hand, Gary Hu pointed out one important aspect that brands mustn't do. That is to create artificial, inorganic, machine-only, content.

Is unavoidable: AI is one of the main topics of recent and future policies. Google continues to improve its AI capabilities, focusing, in part, on machine learning algorithms to improve search result accuracy and relevance.

These metrics (Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), First Input Delay (FID), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)), directly impact user experience.
 
Websites, especially eCommerce platforms, need to optimize these elements to ensure fast load times, quick interactivity, and visual stability.

SEO Changes in the Last Two Years

We asked Gary about his vision on the changing nature of SEO landscape. He emphasized that Google is focusing on rewarding authenticity and truthfulness.
 
"Google -he says- is showing that it prioritizes real companies. So by real companies, it means things like you can see, like e-commerce, if you're doing paid ads, if you're getting traffic to the page from other channels other than SEO, those are good brand signals".
 
Undoubtedly, over the past years, authentic and real content has been the priority.
 
Google has aligned its policies and internal mechanisms to favor this.  Their goal, as their has proven, is to enhance user experience and content quality across the web.

Additionally, Google made some important integrations, such as the Multitask Unified Model (MUM), the Link Spam Updates, and the Passage Ranking. Regular Core Updates continue to refine search algorithms affecting a broad spectrum of SEO factors.
 
These strategic changes highlight Google's commitment to improving search relevancy, user satisfaction, and trustfulness.

In the next five years, Google's SEO strategies are set to harness AI further.

User experience metrics, already integral through Core Web Vitals, will become even more crucial as Google likely introduces additional parameters to measure user engagement and satisfaction.

Finally, Google may implement stricter guidelines around Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-A-T), especially for Your Money or Your Life (YMYL) content, to ensure the highest standards of credibility and reliability. 
 
With potential new metrics focused on sustainability and social impact, Google's future SEO policies will likely encourage websites to adopt more socially responsible practices, aligning with global shifts towards environmental consciousness, ethical business operations, and personal trustfulness.
